Autism and/ or Behavior Affective Needs PD Specialists Job Description

The purpose of this position is to facilitate professional development workshops and coach teachers and leaders that support an Autism and Behavior/Affective Needs Program (i.e., programs are in a self-contained setting) in order to improve teaching quality and student engagement in the classroom.

PART-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Collects baseline and post data on classroom engagement leveraging a Catapult Learning Behavior Observation Tool
• Facilitates twice a month professional development
• Engages in twice a month adult coaching
• Provides reporting documentation as required
• Facilitates and supports development, group discussion and feedback with staff
• Models teaching strategies using the gradual release of responsibility
• Collaborates, thought partners, and debriefs with school leadership and Catapult Learning on PD content and progress of staff capacity and growth mindset
• Other duties may be assigned

DAILY RATE: $480-$600 per full day delivered, depending on years of experience and level of education. All travel expenses are fully paid.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• BA/BS Degree in Education. Master’s Degree preferred.
• Minimum 5 years' experience working with K-12 students in a school setting.
• Experience supporting students and staff with disabilities with Autism and/or Social Emotional and Behavior Needs in a restrictive or inclusive setting (candidate does not have to be expertise in both areas)
• Familiarity with ABA Practices and Crisis De-Escalation Training.
• Experience delivering professional development workshops and coaching to a group of adult learners with a continuum of skill proficiency

• Excellent organization and communication skills are essential.
• Reflective continuous learner in craft and work
• Proficient technology skills (i.e., PowerPoint, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, MicroSoft Outlook Email, Zoom, and Google Docs)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: Some local traveling required. Ability to travel to Tucson, AZ twice a month.
