School Year 2022-2023: Middle School Math Teacher at TAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts | Providence, RITAPA: Trinity Academy for the Performing Arts, an academically rigorous public charter school for the arts, seeks a Middle School Math Teacher. The Math Teacher is responsible for supporting student achievement in the area of Mathematics with special attention to Tier II and III instruction. The Math Teacher provides instruction to small classes of students who may be struggling academically. This position is also responsible for monitoring, reporting, and communicating student progress and performance. The ideal candidate is an experienced mathematics educator who recognizes and celebrates the interconnections between math and the arts through a culturally responsive pedagogical framework.TAPAs anti-oppression creative community is enriched by the cultural, religious, racial, ethnic, and linguistic diversity of our neurodiverse families, students, and employees. Demographically, nearly all members of the TAPA student body are people of color, predominantly Latinx, with many students speaking both English and Spanish in their homes. A significant portion of TAPAs student body identifies as members of the LGBTQ+ community. It is an organizational priority for TAPA to hire staff members who have cultural commonalities with our students and families. At TAPA, Math is taught through a collaboration of blended learning utilizing Imagine Learning Classroom, arts-integration, and the green-standard Illustrative Math curriculumThe Middle School Math Teacher's primary role is to provide high quality mathematics instruction to small classes of students, using data to provide Tier II and III intervention-based instruction to students with the goal to bring their skills to grade-level while also engaging with green-standard Illustrative Math curriculum.The Math Teacher conducts classroom instruction and assesses student performance and growth. Additionally, the teacher collaborates with the rest of the STEM Department, and Middle School Teachers who share students in Tier II and III supports , to develop a transition plan between the intervention classroom and the regular classroom.At TAPA, the arts are deeply embedded into the core of interdisciplinary learning. TAPA prepares students to successfully meet or exceed Rhode Islands graduation requirements and perform at (or above) grade level on all state and local assessments. TAPA meets each students individual academic needs using assessment data and continuous feedback while providing clear academic, social, and artistic expectations. At its core, TAPA is a student-centered caring community that fosters leadership, intellect, self-confidence, and responsibility. Inclusion, equity, social justice, and diversity frameworks are core components of every course.
