POSITION SUMMARY

In this position, the Bookkeeper is responsible for ensuring day-to-day business operations are smoothly run and closely monitored. They assist in many areas of business management, including general bookkeeping, accounts receivable/payable, invoicing, payroll, budget tracking, and more. The Bookkeeper is an integral team member as the Hive’s expert in fostering a solid business foundation.

Responsibilities & essential functions of our Bookkeeper includes but are not limited to:

ALL COMPANY INITIATIVES

  • Ensures that Company standards are being met and that policies and procedures are being followed
  • Shares any performance or disciplinary issues with manager
  • Assists with training and education for new and current employees
  • Attends bi-weekly one-on-one meetings with manager, to share information about workload, successes, and challenges
  • Represents The Hive brand at event networking functions to gain awareness about the industry and to nurture client and industry partner relationships

FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT

  • Interprets and applies accounting policies, rules, regulations to all work to ensure compliance with applicable standards
  • Oversees reconciliation of sales taxes, payroll taxes, and bank transactions
  • Assists with management of company budget and chart of accounts
  • Maintains and balances the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
  • Performs all activities related to accounts payable including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
  • Performs all activities related to accounts receivable including invoicing, deposits, and collections
  • Prepares financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends
  • Complies with federal, state, and local business requirements, ensuring company adheres to all filing requirements
  • Serves as direct liaison between company and outsourced CPA
  • Assists with all tax compliance and filing needs alongside CPA

BUSINESS OPERATIONS SUPPORT

  • Assists with management of benefit programs including 401k and HRA
  • Assists with account management of insurance, utilities, and business tools
  • Oversees payroll process for all employees, both exempt and non-exempt
  • Assist with onboarding of new employees with regards to payroll and onboarding paperwork
  • Assists Talent & Culture Manager and HR advisor with all labor compliance

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Associates or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or other related field preferred
  • 4+ years relevant experience working in accounting and bookkeeping
  • 3+ year relevant experience using Quickbooks Online
  • 3+ years relevant experience supporting general business operations
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Maintain high levels of communication and transparency with management, cross-functional teams, and partners
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret contracts, financial reports, and legal documents
  • Self-starter who can effortlessly manage a wide range of tasks and objectives
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the U.S.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear using telecommuting software and phones. As an optionally remote-based position, the employee is expected to be available during company business hours, regardless of time zone. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, and ability to adjust focus. This position may occasionally work outside of normal business hours, holidays, and weekends. Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
