Employment Requirement: Colorado Public Radio (CPR) strives to maintain a workplace that keeps employees mentally and physically safe. Colorado Public Radio (CPR) is seeking a Host / Producer for Indie 102.3.
About the Position:
The Host / Producer hosts regular weekly airshifts on CPR’s Indie 102.3 from 6am - 10 am Monday through Saturday. They will announce in a way that is listener-focused, engaging, personable, timely, and topical about alternative and indie music (both current and classical across multiple genres). They will discuss local cultural connections regarding alternative and indie music. The Host / Producer will also create periodic content for broadcast and digital (e.g., fundraising, web, production, and participating in live on-air fundraising).

You have a hunger or curiosity for music discovery. You enjoy staying current on music news, events and issues. You have excellent communication skills and an engaging presence. You’re collaborative and approachable and are able to connect with a broad range of people. You’re an adaptable person, open to new ideas and able to adjust your plans to meet the changing needs of CPR. You are results focused, prioritize tasks well, and have high standards for your work. You listen well to others and value teamwork.
Minimum Qualifications:

  • At least 3 - 5 years of experience broadly related to the tasks of this role.
  • Knowledge of and passion for alternative and indie music, both current and classic across multiple genres.
  • Dynamic presence with exceptional communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Previous on-air announcing experience is preferred, but radio, television or professional performance experience is also helpful.
  • Must be punctual and reliable in adhering to a set work schedule.
  • General PC computer competency. Familiarity with audio editing software and web publishing software is preferred.
  • Social media familiarity in terms of audience engagement is preferred.
  • A familiarity with the Colorado music scene is preferred.

Education Equivalency

  • Associate’s degree in music or a related academic discipline and 2 years of experience related to the position. Bachelor’s degree in music or a related academic discipline and 1 year of experience related to the position, OR no degree and 3 - 5 years of experience related to the position.
