JOB SUMMARY: The Individual Giving Officer serves as a member of the Leadership and Annual Giving Team and drives fundraising efforts to meet the Agency’s philanthropic goals. The position is responsible for the identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of mid-level donors ($1,000 to $9,999). The Individual Giving Officer will develop and implement strategic moves for achieving specific goals. The position reports to the Director of Leadership and Annual Giving and works collaboratively with the President/CEO, Chief Development Officer and other members of the Development team.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Solicits mid-level donors, contributing to the revenue generation for the organization (both designated and undesignated funds).
- Develops and implements strategies for identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of a significant portfolio of mid-level donors to maintain and grow the agency’s relationship with these donors. The ultimate objective is to discover and move mid-level donors, over time, to become major gift ($10,000 and above) level donors.
- Manages a portfolio of a minimum of 125-150 prospects contributing toward meeting an annual team goal with anticipated growth and significant discovery within this portfolio.
- Analyzes prospect research with a working knowledge of moves management and familiarity with fundraising software, preferably The Raiser’s Edge database system.
- Manages their portfolio pipeline in The Raiser’s Edge database system and proactively monitors individual metrics toward team goals.
- Works collaboratively with and in support of volunteers, other Development staff, and agency leadership to cultivate and solicit donors for agency priorities.
- Assists Development colleagues on their initiatives including the identification, qualification, and re-engagement of current donors.
- Promotes a collegial atmosphere within the Development department, working cooperatively with all fundraising staff to help them and the department to meet their overall financial goals.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's degree in business, communications, or related field required.
- Three (3) years of experience in individual fundraising solicitations and relationship management strategies.
- Three (3) years of experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and events, and implementing strategic program goals.
SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, listening, writing and communication skills.
- Personal intellectual skills to articulate organizational needs to various constituencies.
- Knowledge of fundraising principles and practices.
