Summary:
Responsible for the release of health information in accordance with hospital and department policy while abiding by HIPAA and applicable state laws. Handles correspondence, telephone calls and patient walk-ins for medical record information. Evaluates for the completeness and accuracy of authorizations that determines the authority to release information.
Qualifications:
Education
Associate’s degree in health information technology, health information management, or a related field is preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Experience
2 years of related experience in health information management or medical records is preferred.
Certifications, Licenses and Registrations
Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) or Registered Health Information Technology (RHIT) is preferred.
