15% shift differential for evenings and night shift

Essential duties and responsibilities:
- Perform venipuncture and capillary punctures as outlined in the departmental procedure manual
- Follow proper procedures for patient identification and specimen handling
- Accurately label and prepare specimens for testing or transport to the appropriate laboratory facility
- Complete requisitions per department standards
- Perform specimen receipt functions using appropriate computer systems
- Deliver specimens to internal testing areas.
- Load patient specimens onto laboratory instruments.
- Organize and expedite the flow or orders and specimens within the laboratory
- Assist with problem-solving as related to patient draws, orders, and specimens
- Operate and maintain departmental equipment, including but not limited to, paging system, pneumatic tube station, centrifuges and printers
- Communicate in a courteous and efficient manner, demonstrating positive customer service skills at all times
- Perform regular inventory checks and stock work area with supplies
- Assist in training new employees, when requested
- Follow regulatory requirements, corporate integrity standards and all departmental policies and procedures, including universal precautions, isolation and sharps/biohazard waste disposal
- Perform shift specific or other job duties as requested
- Must be a high school graduate or equivalent. Some experience or training in phlebotomy or laboratory science is preferred
- Must be able to walk 5-7 miles per day
- Must be able to walk to stand for duration of entire shift
- Will have exposure to biohazard substances and hazardous chemicals
- Be familiar with and adhere to safety, ergonomic and health policies of the Company.
- Comply with all PPE requirements when in the laboratory or other biohazard areas.
- Complete required safety training and health evaluations in a timely manner.
- Anticipate safety hazards, act upon unsafe situations and promote safety awareness.
