Instructor/Assistant Professor of Finance
Frostburg State University, College of Business, seeks applications for a full-time tenure-track Instructor/Assistant Professor of Finance for its Department of Marketing and Finance. The primary teaching area is Finance with additional opportunity for support teaching in the areas of Economics, Accounting, or Business Analytics. This position is to begin in Fall 2023. Salary is competitive and commensurate to experience and qualifications.
Frostburg State University’s College of Business is AACSB accredited and values teaching, scholarly contribution, and service. The College of Business has a growing reputation for addressing the rapidly changing landscape of business through global experiential learning. While the College’s primary focus is teaching, maintenance of academic qualifications includes peer-reviewed, discipline-appropriate, scholarly research and other productivity in the area of intellectual contribution. Service activities to the College including student advising and committee assignments at various levels of the institution are expected.
Responsibilities: Teach primarily undergraduate courses in Finance such as: Corporate Finance, International Finance, Principles of Real Estate, with support teaching in Economics, Accounting, and/or Business Analytics at the introductory to intermediate level. There is also the opportunity to teach a graduate course in Financial Management. Teaching is coupled with expectations for appropriate research productivity.
Minimum Qualifications: Ph.D. or ABD candidates with a firm completion date in Finance or a related field. Previous teaching experience and evidence of scholarly work required.
If selected candidate is ABD, they will be hired at the rank of Instructor, with the requirement that the candidate finish the doctoral degree within the first year of employment.
Preferred Qualifications: Earned doctorate in Finance with additional graduate-level study in economics, accounting, and/or business analytics for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor. Full-time managerial experience in the finance arena is desired. Certifications or advanced training and experience in leading curricular innovations in emergent areas such as financial technology, blockchain, and risk management are preferred.
