Minimum Requirements:

Master’s degree in Economics or a related field, and three years of experience teaching economics, government, or social studies.

Description of Work:

We are seeking a temporary, part-time instructor with an economics background to teach Advanced Placement (AP) Macroeconomics courses in our distance education program. The AP Macroeconomics course will cover concepts like economic measurements, markets, macroeconomic models, and macroeconomic policies. Both courses are aligned with, and developed from, the College Board AP curriculum.

The position is responsible for providing instruction for the NCSSM Connect online AP Macroeconomics courses. The majority of the course will be taught asynchronously and there will be weekly synchronous Zoom meetings each Friday from 7:30 am to 8:30 am. Using a combination of a pre-developed curriculum, digital assets, and materials developed by the instructor, the instructor will deliver the courses asynchronously to multiple students across North Carolina. The AP Macroeconomics course will be taught online during the spring semester – January 17, 2023, through May 26, 2023.

General duties include: developing and communicating to students clear course objectives and goals; planning and developing an instructional program that helps students assimilate specific course content and skills; regularly monitoring and evaluating students' progress, providing them with resources and feedback on their performance; structure and manage an environment conducive to learning; model for students responsibility to self and others; follow the School's philosophy, policies, and procedures.

Preferred Skills and Abilities:

Teaching experience in economics or related field, preferably with secondary students or with undergraduates at the freshman/sophomore level; preparation for teaching a diverse student population as demonstrated by training and experience; experience in the use of educational technology to deliver interactive asynchronous remote courses.

Specific Duties:

Specific duties include teaching the AP Macroeconomics NCSSM Connect distance education course in the spring semester.
