Basic Role Information

Intermediate Scrum Master

Anticipated duration: 9 months
Anticipated hours: 40 hours per week
Desired work location: Hybrid remote/in-person Columbus, OH
Travel required: 0% to 25%
Contract-to-hire: Possible

Contract Rate: $50/hr - $60/hr

Responsibilities:

Serve the Scrum Team and Product Owner by ensuring that goals, scope, and product domain are understood by everyone on the Scrum Team. Scrum Masters do this by helping everyone understand agile values, principles, practices, and their application within an organization. Scrum Masters embody agility in their behaviors and interactions at all times. The Scrum Master is a servant-leader for the agile team. The Scrum Master helps those outside the agile team understand which of their interactions with the team are helpful and which are not. The Scrum Master helps everyone modify these interactions to maximize the value created by the agile team. They find techniques for effective product backlog management. They are responsible for understanding and practicing agility and facilitating scrum events as requested or needed.

Desired skills, qualifications, or certifications:

Required Qualifications for Position

• Minimum of 3 years of experience being a Scrum Master
• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related discipline
• Role will be focused on migrating the current learning management system into the Workday learning management module
• Workday knowledge would be a plus
• Preference for someone with a Scrum Master certificate
• Use of ServiceNow to make weekly status reports
• A controller will be available to help this person with budgets
• Passion for innovation and “can do” attitude
• Able to build a sense of trust and rapport that creates a comfortable & effective workplace.
• Able to resolve conflicts within the team before they become an issue, i.e. a strong mediator.
• Ability to coach the team on agile practices and ensures adherence to the agile methodology to deliver maximum business value on time.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate complex messages and teach new concepts.
• Experience in scheduling and coordinating meetings, identifying risks/dependencies/impediments, coordinating resources and handling multiple priorities required.
• Brings a high-energy and passionate outlook to the job and can influence those around them

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position Certified Scrum Master

• Project Management experience
• Resource planning experience
• Budget forecasting
• Creating & delivering executive-level project status updates
• Ability to promote innovative thinking and self-improvement within the team.
• Confident and skilled at navigating the team through roadblocks to allow sprints to be completed on time.
• Experience in agile development, with specific Scrum Master or similar experience

Additional Nice to have Qualifications for Position Familiarity with the Energy Industry

Past developer experience helpful additional details:

The candidate will be expected to work a hybrid approach to being in the office 2 - 3 days per week, with the ability to work remotely on other days. Will be requested to forecast resource hours to create a budget forecast for the duration of the project by month. The candidate will need to create and distribute weekly project status update reports.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $60.00 per hour
