Job Summary


Provide interpretation, note taking, and other services for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.

Responsibilities


Typical Allocation of Duties:

Interpret for students - 80%
Provide ASL/sign language interpreting and related services (e.g. captioning, transcription, notetaking) during VSU academic and co-curricular activities.

Meet with students - 10%
Meet with students regarding disability-related academic and career issues and accommodation planning.

Assist with other department activities - 10%
Assist with department activities (e.g. developing policies, providing training) that will increase accessibility and reduce barriers across campus.


Required Qualifications


Required Experience
Bachelor's degree and one (1) year of related work experience. Educational Interpreter Performance Assessment Test score of 3.5 or higher or passing the National Interpreter Certification Performance exam is required within first year of employment.

$41,170

Conditions of Employment


Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a background check. Position May Require Credit Check (if using P-Card, working with Cash, etc.).

Position Requires completion of VSU’s Annual Compliance Training course (such as State Business Transactions, Drug Free Workplace, Anti-Harassment Policy, Introduction to Information Security, Workers Compensation, Motor Vehicle Policy, USG Ethics Policy, Conflict of Interest/ Outside Activities Policy, Leave Procedures for Faculty and Staff, Georgia Open Records Act, Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA), and Contracts 101. Supervisory positions require training in FMLA and Worker’s Compensation.
