Interpreter - Bilingual Arabic
Qualification:
The successful candidate must have a minimum of 40 hours of coursework/certification for interpreting in the healthcare profession (i.e. – Culture Smart or Bridging the Gap). Minimum 2-5 years of translation/interpretation field work experience required, experience working in healthcare settings. Written and oral proficiency in English and Arabic language also required. Well versed on code of ethics and protocols for interpreting in a healthcare facility is essential.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office.
Bachelor’s degree required.

Interpreter - Bilingual Arabic
Casual (up to 19.5 hours per week)
Overview
In this role you will facilitate patient care by providing Arabic interpreter services between patients and physicians, nursing staff or other hospital personnel. You will be relied upon to assist Arabic-speaking patients and family members with the completion of required forms and surveys. You will also conduct structured phone interviews with Arabic-Speaking patients and maintain statistics on interpreter services provided.
The Arabic Interpreter must be flexible, able to work well under pressure, multi- task assignments, and react quickly to solve complex linguistic and ethical problems as they arise. The interpreter should interpret in an accurate and complete manner; and should follow the Code of Ethics and the National Standards of Practice for Medical Interpreters. The interpreter should have an extended knowledge of specialty medical terminology and be able to perform independently in a fast pace environment. Medical interpreters will translate written materials from source to target language in a precise way. Interpreters will effectively identify cultural differences as potential communication barriers that could interfere with the exchange of information between providers, patients and their families.
