Summary

The Information Technology Quality Assurance Analyst is responsible for moderately complex QA and testing tasks within a broad range of environments including software applications, hardware and infrastructure (Data Center, Network and Security) implementations. The incumbent reviews project-related documentation, updates test validation documentation deliverables, and executes tests based on predefined specifications/test cases/scripts to isolate and solve problems. The IT QA Analyst initiates tests, analyzes results, and reports outcomes to the Lead- and Senior IT QA Analysts. Additionally, the incumbent is responsible for following IT QA best practices and aids in planning, documenting, testing, and deploying applications. The incumbent is also responsible for keeping up-to-date on QA- and test-related training and adhering to Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) best practices, change control policies, and service level agreement (SLA).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs moderately complex testing in accordance with test specifications on a routine basis including but not limited to regression test fixes in multiple configurations; documenting, troubleshooting, and following up on issues found during testing; and designing, developing, and automating via test tools such as HP LoadRunner.
  • Assists in planning, tracking, and managing test environment setup activities.
  • Works closely with the Lead and Senior IT QA Analysts to define, specify, document, implement and validate a project as it moves through the development lifecycle.
  • Provides test phase status information to QA team and project team(s) as required.
  • Understands and follows the County's validation and corporate processes including SOPs, working practices and guidelines.
  • Provides status information to Applications Deployment Team regarding a release as required.
  • Participates in routine quality assurance-related training and webinars.
  • Reviews and approves/rejects Change Management tickets in Service Now as required.
  • Assists in the development, implementation and continuous improvement of quality assurance plans.
  • Performs all other related duties as required.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor's degree required + Two (2) full-time years of experience in information technology with experience in software and infrastructure test execution, documenting test cases, test plans, and requirements gathering.

Associate's degree required + Four (4) full-time years of experience in information technology with experience in software and infrastructure test execution, documenting test cases, test plans, and requirements gathering.
~OR~
High School Diploma or GED required + Six (6) full-time years of experience in information technology with experience in software and infrastructure test execution, documenting test cases, test plans, and requirements gathering.

Relevant training and/or experience with project methodology, fundamentals of testing, and Agile testing strategies is required.

International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB) Certification considered a plus.

Knowledge of developing audit plans, preparing findings reports, and ISO 9001 or ISO 31000 knowledge a plus.

Must have core understanding of requirements and ability to analyze software and infrastructure applications, test and document changes, and work in collaboration with other quality assurance analysts in a team environment.

Must have core knowledge of System Development Life Cycle and project methodologies that include the Waterfall, Agile, and other approaches. Must be able to multi-task and work independently on small to medium assignments of moderate complexity using independent discretion and judgment as well as transition quickly between projects/issues with minimal supervision.

Must possess core level knowledge and skills in project documentation and test validation deliverables that include project plans, test plans and test summary reports.

Must have strong interpersonal skills with the ability to easily and effectively, interact with technical, non-technical, support, and business staff at all levels.

Ability to consistently meet deadlines

Must be able to work and communicate effectively with both team members and customers.

Ability to understand the concepts, best practices, and execution of business analysis and project management principles.

Must have the ability to verify that the product meets the requirements.

Position requires the ability to follow standards and system development methodology.

Must be able to display a courteous and professional demeanor.
