Position Summary:

On the job training for someone wanting to get into the IT field in Dillingham. Hiring a full time 10-month information technology technician position with benefits in Dillingham, AK.

Duties:

1-60IT Equipment: Update, maintain, and clean IT equipment. Learn to use BBC technology.Essential
30IT Operation Support Troubleshoot IT issues: may include computers, cameras, drones, and other devices. Learn to use BBC technology and teach with others. Set up IT equipment as needed for events.Essential
5IT Administrative Tasks Keep track of IT owned by BBC: inventory, check equipment in and out to users, order supplies, files manuals Participate in IT planningEssential
5IT Liaison: Liaison, meaning to be “boots on the ground” between UAF OIT main campus support and BBC. Stay informed of UAF IT requirements and keep BBC in compliance.Essential

The Bristol Bay Campus in Dillingham is hiring for a full-time 10-month IT position in Dillingham (2 months off in the summer). This IT beginner position will have on-the-job training. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
  • Personal interest in technology and has a history of being quick to pick up new features on a smartphone or other technology.
  • Strong enough to lift and move desktop computers and monitors.
  • Manual coordination to install and connect electronic parts.
  • Competent using internet searches to find information and training needed.
  • Strong organizational skills.

Typical Experience:
Used several technology devices: personal computer, smart phone, tablet, camera, etc.
Connected personal devices to WIFI.
Used email and word processing.

Required Education or Training:

High school graduation and 6 months experience in a relevant field or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Type 40 words a minute (or is willing to learn)
Continual training required for technology (hardware and software) used by the campus.



Salary Information:

This is a full-time, 10-month, non-exempt staff position complete with both a competitive salary and full employee benefits package. New hires will be placed on the UA staff salary schedule, Grade 27_76, based on education and experience.
