BASIC FUNCTION: Responsible to assist the overall maintenance of the parish and school buildings and grounds. The Maintenance and Janitorial Aid works a normal 20-hour workweek. This position involves lifting of up to 60-70 pounds.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:

• Replace light bulbs, fixtures and ballasts as needed.
• Building maintenance such as cleaning, painting, and minor repair of carpeting as necessary
• Grounds maintenance, including mowing lawn, cutting shrubs, pruning trees, ice melt, snow removal and sidewalks.
• Maintain of the heating and air-conditioning units.
• Perform room set-ups, gyms floor tarp, moving furniture and objects as necessary
• Perform preventative maintenance tasks in a timely manner.
• Other miscellaneous jobs, as time allows or as needed

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Able to lift items a minimum of 60 lbs.
• Ability to operate cleaning equipment and solutions (e.g., vacuum and cleaning solutions).
• Requires flexibility for repetitive movement.
• Requires standing, walking for prolonged periods of time.
• Requires working indoors in an office environment with low to moderate noise level.
• Ability to multitask and work independently.

Part Time Janitor & Maintenance Aid

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:

• Knowledge of electrical, plumbing and heating maintenance to be able to perform minor repairs/replacement and/or to diagnose problems
• Experience in interior repairs such as wood fixtures, drywall, carpet, and tile, papered interior walls, exterior trim, windows, and brick walls.
• Experience in the operation and minor repair of small engines such as lawnmower tractors, snow removal equipment, etc.
• Experience in landscaping care: grass, bushes, trees, and minor problem with sprinkler system.
• Possess strong organization and communication skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.

COMPENSATION:

• Commensurate with experience.
