Job Description:

Assistant Director of Maintenance

The duties and responsibilities of this position are as follows:

1. Reports to the Director of Maintenance.

2. Assists in the oversight of maintenance program pertaining to all company aircraft operated under the Part 135 certificate.

3. Coordinates with dispatch and flight operations personnel to ensure that the goals and objectives relating to all maintenance operations are achieved and carried out in accordance with company policy and procedures.

4. Assists with the scheduling of maintenance with flight operations and repair facility personnel, and upon request, provides the Director of Operations with the current airworthiness status of the aircraft and the forecast down times to facilitate maintenance scheduling and ensure timely deferral or correction of aircraft discrepancies.

5. Helps ensure that all inspections to company aircraft are accomplished properly and that all maintenance records are completed prior to approving any aircraft for return to service.

6. Ensures that Mechanical Interruption Summary (MIS) and Service Difficulty Reports (SDR) are submitted to the FAA as required by FAR 135.

7. Maintains a close liaison with manufacturer’s representatives, repair facilities, and the FAA.

8. Helps coordinate and oversee maintenance performed by outside contractors in accordance with the procedures contained in this manual.

9. Act as the liaison with Maintenance Managers, Maintenance Control, Maintenance Technicians and Assistant Maintenance Technicians.

10. Comply with all FARs, Operations Specifications, Company Policies, and Company Procedures.

11. s responsibility for training any maintenance personnel under the FAR 135 certificate.

12. Must meet all required qualifications stated in CFR Part 119.71(e) – If not all requirements are met, they may be waived with the joint approval of the company president and the FAA.

13. Ensuring safety and quality with respect to maintenance performed on fleet of aircraft by participating in SQMS program and promoting a safety and quality oriented culture within the organization.

14. Ensures aircraft are clean and properly configured for intended flight mission.

15. Is included in the Safety Committee and helps to meet the goals of SQMS and CASS.

16. Will act in the role of Maintenance Technician as necessary.

17. Completes any ad hoc projects, as assigned by the Director of Maintenance, in a timely and high-quality manner.

18. Complies with all FARs, Operations Specifications, Company Policies, and Company Procedures.

19. Ensures safety and quality throughout flight operations by fostering participation in SQMS program and promoting a safety and quality oriented culture among all personnel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

• Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic Certificate (A&P) required.

• Must be able to pass a 10-year criminal and credit check as well as 10-year background check.

• Must have a valid drivers license. Clean driving record a plus.

• Ten (10) years of experience in aviation maintenance required. A focus on assigned or similar type of aircraft very desirable.

• Three (3) years or more of hands-on corporate aircraft maintenance experience on assigned or similar type aircraft.

• Thorough knowledge of maintenance planning, along with oversight of inspections, repairs, and modifications conducted at aircraft service centers.

• Flexible working schedule is a must.

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds, climb, kneel, squat, and stand for extended periods.

• Curious, life-long learner and motivator.

• Two (2) years of college or equivalent technical training in related field strongly preferred.
