Jr. EHS Specialist

Position Summary:
The position of the EHS Specialist performs a variety of functions to assist in maintaining and preserving the health and safety of employees as well as the environment. This individual will be responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining existing systems related to plant safety, environmental control processes, regulatory compliance, and training.
- Assists in accident investigations.
- Assists in compliance with Hazardous/Universal Waste regulations. May have to move drums.
- Provides safety training, including hazard communications, new employee safety orientation, lead awareness, hearing conservation, hazardous waste, fire extinguisher, CPR and first aid, and bloodborne pathogens.
- Schedules annual testing requirements including audiograms and blood lead testing.
- Assist with Process Safety Management.
- Assist with annual testing requirements including audiograms and blood lead testing.
- Assist with annual industrial hygiene monitoring with direction.
- Assists in the implementation and enforcement of company safety policies.
- Completes fire extinguisher, eyewash, and other safety inspections.
- Leads Safety Committee meetings.
- Ensures compliance with all EHS programs.
- Emergency coordinator.
- Procures personal protective equipment as needed to sustain operations.
- Assist with compliance and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plan.
- Performs various office functions and other duties as required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in EH&S and/or equivalent experience.
- 0-2 years of experience in the Environmental Health and Safety field.
- Proficiency with all Microsoft Office products, particularly Excel.
- Ability to work independently as well as in a team.
- Able to lift up to 25 pounds.
- Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) which is required in designated areas.
