The expected ENTRY pay range for this position based on experience and equity within the Judicial Branch is $72,072.00 to $90,043.20.

This position is exempt under the FLSA.

About the Position
The Judicial Services Researcher performs a broad range of legal and paralegal functions on cases and issues before judicial officers. Performs legal research for court administration and provides legal information to the public at the LLRC Reference Desk.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education:
  • Juris Doctorate degree from an ABA accredited law school
Experience:
  • Two (2) years work experience in a law researcher capacity.
Other Requirements:
  • Active member of the Arizona State Bar.
Our Preferred Candidate has:
  • Master of Library Science from a library school accredited by the American Library Association
  • Three (3) years of experience performing legal research duties for judicial officers or attorneys
  • One (1) year of work experience in a law library performing reference desk functions.

  • Provide legal information, rather than legal advice, for customers at the LLRC reference desk.

  • Work independently and as a team in a court environment.
  • Assume responsibility and accomplish goals with little or no supervision.
  • Work effectively with a highly diverse group of judicial officers, court staff, public, and coworkers in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Problem solve and exercise judgment in dealing with a wide variety of issues.
ESSENTIAL JOB TASKS
(This is not an all-inclusive list of all job duties that may be required; employees will be required to perform other related duties as assigned.)
  • Research and analyze Arizona statutes and case law, court rules and procedures.
  • Performs a variety of specialized legal tasks for judicial officers and court administrators, to include extensive legal research, writing, editing, and proofreading.
  • Review pending cases with judicial officers in chambers, by email, and by phone.
  • Performs related duties as assigned or necessary to aid in the administration of the case flow before the judicial officers.
  • Train judicial officers and court administrators on legal research basics.
  • Provide information and educational materials to the public regarding Court rules and procedures.
  • In conjunction with others, oversee production of educational materials prepared by staff for workshops.
  • Provide legal reference services in person, and via telephone, email, and chat using exceptional customer service.
  • Participate in LLRC and statewide chat.
Working conditions :
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to speak clearly and hear; see details of objects that are less than a few feet away; sit for long periods of time; stand, walk, use hands to finger handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; and occasionally push, pull or lift up to 10 pounds.
