Job Description:
Pay: This position is part of a classification study. The study may result in a change to the current job profile and salary in Spring 2023. The current hourly pay for this position is $17.28 - $28.13.

Position Highlights
The
Umatilla County Circuit Court
in Pendleton, Oregon is hiring multiple Court Clerk (Judicial Services Specialist 2).
For these court clerk positions, we are looking for candidates who enjoy working and completing a project. You will work directly with members of the public such as attorneys, judges, interpreters, law enforcement, and other court customers. If you are looking to change careers, the clerk position is a great way to transition into working for the courts. Previous experience in a court or legal environment is not required.

Your work will focus on the proper retention of court files by verifying and scanning a backlog of case files into digitized formats. Much of your day will be spent scanning, maintaining accurate records, and entering case data in our electronic case management system.
You will assist the public at a public service counter and on the phone by answering questions, supplying forms, and receiving payments via cash, credit/debit cards, and checks/money orders for balances owed to the court, then crediting those accounts.
You may also attend to juries as bailiff or assist with jury support duties in and out of the courtroom as needed.
Most importantly, you will be part of Oregon’s courts, providing justice services to our community. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Minimum Qualifications

The qualified candidate must have at least one (1) year of responsible, clerical experience in a moderately complex office or business setting involving the processing of financial, administrative, or legal documents.
AND
Possession of a high school diploma or GED, or equivalent life or work experience.

  • Experience using computers enter and retrieve information and to complete a variety of tasks.
  • Experience explaining processes, procedures, or policies to customers.
  • Experience answering and directing phone calls, filing information, managing office supply needs.
  • Experience identifying, handling, and securing confidential information and materials.
  • Experience handling cash, other monetary transactions, generating receipts, and crediting accounts.

Working Conditions
  • This is a temporary, limited duration full-time position, and the work schedule currently is 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. It is eligible for overtime compensation for hours worked exceeding 40 hours per work week.
  • Occasional after-hours or overtime work may be required.
  • Work is mainly in Pendleton with occasional travel to the Sixth Judicial District’s other two court locations in Hermiston and Heppner.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Frequent phone and in-person contact with people who may be facing challenging life circumstances or highly stressful situations.
  • Regular use of the following equipment: telephone, personal computer with multiple monitors, copy machine, fax machine, and scanner.
  • Lifting up to 25 pounds of office material or equipment may be required
