The RAPID group based out of ARA’s Littleton, Colorado facility supports research in the following areas:

• Acoustics – Human hearing/injury, ultrasound, bubbles
• Physics – Sensors development/deployment, blast-structure interaction
• Impact dynamics – Terminal ballistics modeling and experimentation

Our work spans basic scientific studies through concept development and productization allowing us to transition our knowledge and prototypes to fulfill critical needs for end users.

This position will support active contracts based on their skills and program needs. As a part of a collaborative research team, a successful candidate will pursue their passions with the freedom to expand their work to their areas of interest and expertise. As a team, growth in these new and existing areas will further expand our capabilities while serving our customers and end users.

What you’ll do as an ARA Junior Engineer:

• Develop and validate approaches to program-specific technical problems.
• Expand your understanding of materials characterization through modeling and testing.
• Contribute to technical writing including reports and proposals.
• Serve as a technical resource for other engineers and scientists within the company.

EDUCATION

• Requires B.S. or higher in in materials science, physics, mechanical engineering, applied math, or related fields.

REQUIREMENTS

• S. + 0-2 years (or equivalent)
• US Citizen
• Currently hold or have the ability to obtain a security clearance
• On-site or hybrid work at ARA’s Littleton, CO facility
• Periodic travel to ARA offices, subcontractor sites, and customer locations

PREFERRED SKILLS

• Experience in data analysis, experimental methods and laboratory instruments related to materials testing, analytical models of materials, finite element modeling.
• Experience designing and prototyping systems to dispense adhesives, foams, industrial chemicals, etc.
• Experience conducting testing and analysis of various adhesives, polymers, and/or metals in an academic or industry environment
• Experience working in a research environment that requires ingenuity and creative problem solving
• Entrepreneurial Spirit: Inspired to perform well by an ability to drive new ventures within the business
• Evidence of strong written and verbal communication through reports, peer-reviewed publications, and/or conference presentations.
• Ability to work well within a team and independently.
