Position Summary
The Secretary has the primary responsibility to perform a wide variety of secretarial duties, as assigned by the designated supervisor.
Required Duties
The following are required duties of this position:
- Answers telephone, screens calls and forwards to the appropriate person.
- Operates office equipment.
- Files records, reports and pertinent documents, hard copy and electronically.
- Maintains statistical data and other data base management functions.
- Schedules and coordinates appointments, meetings and operational calendars in assigned areas.
- Troubleshoots complaints and resolves conflicts.
- Other duties as assigned and specific to the unit function such as support services, property, warrants, receiving, or mail room.
Education and Training Required
The following are the educational and/or training requirements for this position:
- Must be able to read and comprehend English language directives, training materials, and other documentation.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Business college or training preferred.
Experience Required
The following experience is required for this position:
- Must have experience working in an office environment.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
The following non-physical knowledge, skills and abilities are required for this position:
- Ability to learn to operate various office equipment and computer equipment assigned to the work area.
- Ability to type a minimum of 45 words per minute.
- Demonstrates ability to work with the public.
- Ability to handle routine assignments with a minimum of supervision.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve conflicts in a work group.
Physical Abilities
The following physical ability(s) is/are required for this position:
- Ability to operate a variety of office equipment.
- Must maintain the ability to work any hours, any shift and any days off during your career.

- Executes other responsibilities as assigned by Sheriff, Chief Deputy, or supervisor.
