Brief Position Description:

This position reports to the Quality Coordinator. The primary role of this position is to provide sampling and standardized testing to ensure raw materials and manufactured products meet quality standards, while documenting and communicating these results accurately. The position will also provide general support to the quality department and will routinely work with other departments as assigned.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to work effectively following all plant safety policies and safe work practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver quality work in a timely fashion with minimal rework.
  • Must be able to perform a repetitive task exactly and accurately under a strict timeline.
  • Must be able to document test results exactly and accurately.
  • Must be able to identify known patterns hidden in extraneous data as well as be able to tell when something is wrong or likely to go wrong.
  • Must be able to interpret and follow instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate effectively with other employees. This includes the ability to communicate information verbally and in writing, so others will understand.
  • Must be able and willing to work the shift schedule including weekends, holidays, overtime, callouts and vacation coverage
  • Must be self-starter with sound judgment and a positive attitude.

Qualifications:

Educational Requirements:

Minimum: High school Diploma. Higher education in related fields, such as chemistry and mathematics preferred.

Experience/Skills Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of chemistry and mathematics. (subject to quality, math and reading tests)
  • General knowledge of computers including a working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases required.
  • Ability and willingness to carry out all the major requirements listed above, with appropriate training.
  • Ability to demonstrate safe work practices
  • Must be able to demonstrate reliability, no shift goes without coverage
  • Must be physically able to perform the essential functions of the position, as well as being able to stand or be moving for the majority of the shift.
  • Must have good oral and written communication skills
  • Must interact well with a wide range of difference personality types
  • Six months cement experience desired
  • Candidates will be subject to testing. (i.e. Chemistry, Accuracy, etc.)

ADA Limitations While performing the duties of this job the employee must be able to travel through a cement plant, i.e., walk over obstacles, climb stairs and ladders, lift heavy or awkward parts, wear personal protective equipment (hardhat, safety glasses, fall protection, etc.). The employee will at times be exposed to extremely hot/cold, dusty, noisy, or dark situations. At times, work will be performed at great heights or in small confined spaces.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear and taste or smell. The employee will frequently be required to walk on rocky, irregular surfaces that may be muddy and in reduced lighting conditions. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100+ pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles, confined space, outside weather conditions, low lighting, artificial lighting, and explosives. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, heat, proximity to electrical equipment, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate and occasionally loud.
