CHI St. Alexius Health is a regional health network with a tertiary hospital in Bismarck, the system also consists of critical access hospitals (CAHs) in Carrington, Dickinson, Devils Lake, Garrison, Turtle Lake, Washburn and Williston and numerous clinics and outpatient services. CHI St. Alexius Health manages four CAHs in North Dakota - Elgin, Linton, and Wishek, as well as Mobridge Regional Medical Center in Mobridge, S.D. Responsibilities
1.Orchestrates the day to day operation assuring adequate staffing, evaluating and monitoring technical
and pre-analytic performance, accountable to maintaining instrumentation, and ensuring quality and
timely results.
2. Bench work required in histology and/or phlebotomy on all shifts (training, short staffed, etc).
3. Transports, collects, receives, accessions, prepares, and accurately tests biological specimens for
analysis using procedures consistent with safe work practices and proper laboratory technique while
maintaining integrity of specimens.
4. Critically evaluates specimens and correlates all lab results to the clinical picture of each individual.
Communicates and documents all testing and results in a timely manner to clinical personnel involved
in patient care.
5. Maintains and operates test systems and processes for optimal performance, being able to identify and
resolve technical problems, utilizing quality control methods and troubleshooting techniques.
6. Serves as General Supervisor under CLIAA 88 regulations, follows CAP and all regulatory guidelines,
demonstrating consistent adherence to national patient safety goals.
7. Responsible for interviewing, hiring, promoting, terminating, performance improvement plans, and
conducting performance evaluations. Assures staff is adequately trained and monitor for competency.

sciences from an accredited college or university, and completion
of 12 months of training in an accredited school of Medical

completion of an accredited Histotechnology program.
2. Baccalaureate degree from a college/university with a
combination of 30 semester hours (45 quarters hours) of biology
and chemistry (must include credit hours in both, AND one year
full time acceptable experience in a histopathology laboratory
within the last 5 years in all of the following areas: fixation,
embedding, microtomy, processing, and staining.
OR
Baccalaureate degree or higher in cytotechnology,
histotechnology or biological sciences, AND successful completion
of an accredited cytotechnology or histotechnology program.
Meet the requirements of highly complex testing by CLIA’88.

Successfully completed an official U.S. military medical laboratory

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Possess strong knowledge of clinical laboratory science, applicable
regulations and guidelines, project manangement skills, problem solving,
communication skills (verbal and written), strategic planning and change
management skills, along with ability to use lab equipment, general
clerical equipment, telephones, and computers. Must demonstrate
personal traits of high level of motivation, team orientation,
professionalism, trust, and place a high value on treating others with
dignity and respect. Minimum of four years experience in the laboratory.
PREFERRED Qualifications Computer skills including Outlook, basic spreadsheet and word, LIS and
regulations and guidelines, project manangement skills, problem solving,
communication skills (verbal and written), strategic planning and change
management skills, along with ability to use lab equipment, general
clerical equipment, telephones, and computers. Must demonstrate
personal traits of high level of motivation, team orientation,
professionalism, trust, and place a high value on treating others with
