Job Title: Lab Technician I

Location: Austin, Texas

Type of Role: Contract

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Global Edge is an award-winning recruitment agency connecting projects worldwide with the industry’s most talented project professionals. Our team is currently recruiting a Lab Technician I.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Perform routine analysis as assigned.
• Prepare samples and assist other analysts with sample preparation.
• Assist in procedural improvements and participate in problem solving activities.
• Perform general maintenance of laboratory.
• Completes all other additional assignments as required.
• Assist in preparation of sample kits and sample bottles.
• Clean labware and other accessories.
• Prepare required reagents and standards.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS):

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry or a related Scientific Discipline OR Associate degree in Science (preferably Chemistry) with at least 2 years of Lab experience.
• Capable of learning, understanding, and following SOPs to perform assigned duties for both routine and non-routine procedures.

• Ability to understand and follow safe handling procedures for hazardous chemicals.
• Ability to operate and maintain assigned laboratory instruments.
• Good computer skills are required (data entry, Word, Excel, etc.) is preferred.
• Must be able to work in a team environment with good communication skills.
• Ability to work independently while sampling at clients’ facilities.
• Ability to recognize problems with analytical results and variations due to sample type and effectively communicate problems to the appropriate level.
• Must have initiative and be self-motivated.
• Good organization skills.
• Good verbal and written skills.
• Ability to work under time pressure.
• Ability to change plans and work environment on short notice.

WORK CONDITIONS

• Work Schedule – 7pm to 7am; Sunday thru Tuesday and every other Saturday OR Wednesday thru Friday and every other Saturday.

• Must be able to stand for hours at a time.

• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. with the help of coworkers.

Pay: $20.50 per hour
