The Laboratory Assistant collects, receives and prepares clinical specimens for testing. The Laboratory Assistant is responsible for the analysis of laboratory specimens and subsequent result reporting according to laboratory protocol and procedures, as well as performing clerical and clinical functions. He/She will also set up both instrument and manual tests under proper supervision, enters results of send outs for review and release, as well as perform billing functions as directed.
Requirements:
Must have a High School Diploma and with one year internship or equivalent and possess a valid, current Louisiana Laboratory Assistant license- Must hold a current Certified Phlebotomy Technician-1 or Certified Phlebotomy Technician-2 certificate and must maintain certification in accordance with the standards of the State Department of Health Services.
- Three years of clinical laboratory experience, acute hospital experience preferred
- Basic computer skills with minimal guidance.
- Must be able to read, write, and speak English, as well as possess good communication and written skills
