This opportunity is being offered by National Aerospace Solutions, the team selected by the U.S. Air Force to conduct Test and Operations Sustainment at the Arnold Engineering Development Complex (AEDC), Arnold Air Force Base, Tennessee. AEDC operates more than 55 aerodynamic and propulsion wind tunnels, rocket and turbine engine test cells, space environmental chambers, arc heaters, ballistic ranges and other specialized units located in six states. Many of the complex's test units have capabilities unmatched elsewhere in the United States; some are unique in the world. AEDC is one of three installations which are part of the Air Force Test Center (AFTC), one of six subordinate commands of the Air Force Materiel Command organization and an important national resource.

AEDC’s mission is to conduct developmental test and evaluation for the Nation through modeling, simulation, ground and flight test. Execution of the mission requires a large team of highly qualified and dedicated professionals from multiple technical disciplines to effectively accomplish the objectives of our test customers.

NAS currently has an exciting opportunity available for a Laborer to join our team in Arnold Air Force Base, TN.
Job Duties:
  • Following specific instructions, performs a wide variety of laboring tasks either inside or outside, subject to all kinds of weather conditions.
  • May be required to perform any or all of the following representative assignments.
  • Performs heavy manual work, such as digging and backfilling trenches and holes.
  • Moves furniture.
  • Mixes, carries, and places concrete.
  • Lays drain pipe other than cast iron.
  • Spreads dirt, cinders, or gravel.
  • Operates power lawn care equipment, chemical spreader, asphalt kettle, distributor, electric and air tools, pumps, and concrete saws.
  • Works with shovels, pick axes, jacks, brush cutters, and other hand tools.
  • Moves, loads and unloads coal, earth, supplies, equipment, and other materials.
  • Sets out, trims, prunes, and sprays shrubbery and cleans shore line of reservoir.
  • Assists craftsmen, operators, technicians, and others by carrying, cleaning, pushing, lifting, pulling, moving or holding tools, material, and equipment.
  • Changes and repairs tires and tubes and cleans, washes, and waxes the exterior and interior of automotive vehicles.
  • Cleans tools, shop areas, machines, and equipment as required.Uses shovels, chemical de-icers and other material to remove snow and ice from steps, walkways and other areas.
  • Mixes pesticides and herbicides and operates chemical spray equipment to spray shrubbery and outside areas for control of weeds and insects.
  • Removes, bags, or wraps and disposes of asbestos containing material.
  • It is a condition of employment to wear company issued PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
SUPPLEMENTARY FUNCTIONS: Participation in functional specific safety training.

Basic Qualifications:
Educational Equivalent: Must possess High School Diploma or equivalent.

Specific Knowledge or Experience: Two (2) years of work experience is required. Work experience in construction and building and landscape maintenance desired. Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance and maintain access to the AEDC local area computer network. Must be able to be respirator qualified.

Licenses/Certifications: Class A Commercial Driver’s License with “X” Endorsement desired. State certification in pesticide mixing and application desired.

Communication Skills: Must be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to understand, give and take directions.

Current US Citizenship required.
