Summary

Save the Children’s U.S. Programs (USP) division is committed to ensuring that all children in rural America have a healthy, strong foundation to thrive as learners and in life. Our goals are to increase kindergarten readiness and grade-level literacy and math proficiency for children in under-resourced rural communities. Save the Children is seeking a Lead Associate, Community Engagement to facilitate the community engagement process in target communities across the state. Working closely with state and national teams, you will be responsible for establishing and maintaining community partnerships, convening local working groups, conducting comprehensive community assessments, developing results-oriented programmatic blueprints, and building community capacity.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

Community Engagement (50%):

  • Mobilizes, educates, and motivates members of a community to analyze and address social and systemic barriers to children’s education, health and wellbeing.
  • Establishes and expands local and state-wide networks, convening a wide variety of stakeholders and building awareness and support of Save the Children’s programs and initiatives across the state.
  • Identifies partners to contribute programs and services, aligns contributions, and coordinates community-wide events, activities and distributions.
  • Facilitates community meetings and leads members through the development and execution of action plans with shared goals and metrics that drive population-level results.
  • Plans, monitors and manages community projects from initiation through completion.

Training and Technical Assistance (30%):

  • Strengthen community capacity to influence issues concerning children, empowering community members to hold government, schools, businesses and private organizations accountable for policies and programs that directly impact the community.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to deliver training opportunities to partners across the state in the areas of child development, early literacy and math, Kindergarten readiness, child protection and advocacy.
  • Provide administrative and logistical support for onsite and remote training and networking events.

Data Collection and Reporting (20%):

  • Maintain applicable programmatic and community engagement databases to facilitate and lead efficient and effective contact and relationship management.
  • Conduct comprehensive community needs assessments, capturing baselines to measure improvements, identify gaps, and address trends over time.
  • Assist in developing, disseminating, and collecting community, partner and beneficiary surveys
  • Provide information on targets and performance to goals for proposals and reports.
  • Collect storytelling assets, such as photos, videos, and testimonies to share with partners, donors, and other key stakeholders

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a High School Diploma or equivalent, plus at least 3 years of relevant experience
  • Professional proficiency in MS Office suite
  • Professional proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with individuals and teams at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering and maintaining and environment of diversity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • Experience working in culturally and demographically diverse communities with limited resources.
  • Professional public speaking skills
  • Demonstrated ability to convey clear understanding of issues related to poverty in rural communities.
  • Willingness and ability to travel at least 50% to assigned sites throughout the state in personal and state assigned vehicles.

This position may require the incumbent to operate a motor vehicle to fulfill certain essential functions of the job. The incumbent should maintain a valid driver’s license and remain in compliance with any Save the Children policies pertaining to the safe operation of motor vehicles.

Compensation

Save the Children is offering the following salary range for this position:

  • Geo 3-Locations significantly below the US National Labor Cost Average: Up to $64,000/year

Actual base salary may vary based upon, but not limited to, relevant experience, base salary of internal peers, business sector, and geographic location.
