Opportunity at a Glance:
We are seeking a Lead Copywriter to help lead and execute the voice, tone, and storytelling across the multi-channel landscape for our portfolio of higher education brands. This position will oversee a growing team of writers and editors responsible for generating content and campaigns to support enrollment growth. This position reports to the Senior Director, Creative, Content and Events and collaborates heavily with institution marketing directors, creative teams, agencies and channel leads.
The right candidate will be a conceptual and strategic thinker who is also highly capable of overseeing execution and details. She/he should have a passion for storytelling, while also having an eye for accuracy and legal insights.

- Lead, inspire and mentor a growing team of copywriters and editors to deliver distinct Brand voice and consistency in messaging across the portfolio.
- Create compelling copy through in-depth knowledge of our universities and consumer journeys with a critical eye toward brand consistency, alignment to strategy, user empathy, program knowledge and conversion.
- Provide creative, strategic direction and hands on execution of deliverables across all channels, particularly:
- Social media
- Web content
- SEO
- Student profiles
- CRM and email journeys
- Blog strategy
- Partner with product teams to generate differentiating claims in a tight regulatory environment.
- Partner closely with design team to enrich content direction and build conceptual ideas to bring content to life.
- Guide student storytelling narratives.
- Oversee program styleguides that can be utilized by both internal and external partners.
- Uses SEO practices to optimize content and increase visibility.
- Completes other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related field required
- 10+ years of relevant work experience, preferably in a copywriting or editorial role
- Proven leadership and direct management experience
- Experience establishing and writing to a brand voice
- Expert understanding of the English language and grammar with proven ability to copyedit and proofread
- Experience with highly-engaged legal and compliance teams
- Strong communication skills – able to confidently manage internal relationships to ensure you have up-to-date information to inform your writing
- An exceptional portfolio, demonstrating versatility, range, and style of content
- Exceptional attention to detail, even when managing content for multiple projects concurrently
- The ability to interrogate a brief, to find new and creative ways to present information
- Experience using project management systems, like Monday, Workfront or Similar
- Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
