Position: Industrial/Manufacturing Electrician

Sonoco is seeking a high-caliber industrial/manufacturing electrician for our steel food & aerosol can manufacturing plant in Columbus, Ohio.

This position has a starting pay of $39.78

Schedule: 4x4 schedule rotation, 12 hour shifts.

Shift: Day or Night shift available

Primary Purpose of Position:

Support electrical components of automated, high-speed, manufacturing equipment plant-wide.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

• Mentors department technicians to promote and maintain a culture of safety and respect.
• Trains and develops department technicians' technical knowledge.
• Troubleshoots, adjusts, and repairs all electrical equipment including: three phase motors, VFDs ,and motor starters; PLCs and HMIs; and various proximity sensors and limit switches
• Performs preventative maintenance on assigned electrical systems and equipment.
• Identifies inefficiencies and potential electrical problems and coordinates through supervisor to resolve.
• May assist or lead in the design, experimentation, and/or installation of all new plant equipment or electrical production procedures.
• Handles stress well and interacts with others so as to establish and maintain a positive and productive work environment.
• Communicates effectively, writes effectively, reads, comprehends and follows complicated verbal and written instructions.
• Assures and maintains safe and healthful working conditions while enforcing safety rules and regulations.

Required Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience working in an industrial electrical, multicraft, or otherwise similar maintenance role.
• Experience using PLCs to troubleshoot machine problems
• Experience working with 3 phase motors, VFDs, and relays
• A strong working knowledge of using a digital multi-meter and other instruments to troubleshoot circuits and components.
• The ability to effectively read and interpret electrical schematics.
• Must possess own tools

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience programing Allen Bradley and/or Siemens PLCs
• Experience programing Allen Bradley and/or Red Lion HMIs
• Experience in working with Allen Bradley servos
• An in depth knowledge of RSLinx and industrial communication protocols; primarily Ethernet IP, and to a lesser extent, Data Highway Plus (DH+), Device Net, Profibus, Profinet, and RS 232/485.
• Associate degree in Electro-Mechanical Engineering Technologies or otherwise similar degree/certification
