Position Summary: This position supports the mission of The Medical Center of Aurora/Centennial Hospital of optimizing the quality of life of all those served by expanding beyond the traditional focus on medical needs to the needs of the whole person. Under the supervision of the manager, the Lead Physical Therapist evaluates patients, plans, implements and modifies treatment programs, utilizes community resources, participates in discharge planning, performs administrative duties, participates in performance improvement, pursues professional growth, assists with student education, oversees the work of aides, PTA, volunteers, and students, and when need arises will perform other duties as assigned by supervisor. The Lead Physical Therapist will have the additional responsibilities as follows:

  • Will function as the PT scheduling coordinator.
  • Coordination of new PT staff mentorship and orientation including agency staff and travelers.
  • Clinical resource for PT staff.
  • Ensures quality of clinical practice, ie: documentation, evidence based practice, and adherence to professional practice act.
  • Will coordinate PT meeting as needed with group facilitation, team building and education.
  • Program/project development as assigned by department supervisor or director.
  • Communicates PT staff concerns to supervisor/director.

Qualifications

Position Requirements:

  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current licensure in the State of Colorado as a Physical Therapist, BLS certification required.

  • Education: Bachelor's, Master's or Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years acute care experience required.

  • Special Qualifications: Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, physicians, and other health care team members. Ability to work with others within a team to ensure quality patient care. Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to communicate with patients using auditory Input and Output.

Degree of supervision required: Involves general guidance and direction by the Director and Manager. Workload is the responsibility of the therapist. Employee will be expected to perform most job duties independently and in accordance with established departmental and hospital policies and procedures. Work performance is reviewed by peers and manager.
