Job description

Responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and continual development of new tools to improve the day to day of Operations support. The role will work with various business areas within Networks Operations to develop tools for the business to streamline their business activities allowing them to focus more on core functions and less on maintaining outdated technologies. The position will work with Principal and Program Managers within Grid Modernization as well as key business resources to uncover new ways to improve how we do business then develop and deploy these solutions.
Major Roles & Responsibilities
  • Design, development and implementation of applications and interfaces integrated with databases
  • Working with staff, contractors, and business area management to integrate new versions of programs.
  • Relational database skills including writing queries, reports, and data extraction
  • Provide technical support for created products to users
  • Helping to coordinate training activities for application users and the Trainers in the business areas.

Skills and Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Technology or a related field. Bachelor’s Degree preferred. Equivalent work experience may be substituted.
  • Experience with Information/Operations Technology design and implementation
  • Experience with web application development tools or concepts
  • Experience with network, server, and desktop hardware and software technologies
  • Willingness to learn new technology
  • Experience with Microsoft and Oracle databases a plus
  • Understanding or ability to learn relevant Compliance Regulations and Policies
Skills/Abilities:
  • Strong analytical, complex problem solving and successful negotiation skills
  • Experience and proactive mind to work as an application developer and capacity to lead discussions with managers and senior technicians within the organization to meet priorities and resolve issues
  • Good working knowledge of programming languages:
o Design, development of web based applications
o Design, development of client-server applications
o Interfacing with API libraries, web services
