Job Summary


The position exists to provide PALS staff and customers with software support to those using Alma to manage their electronic resources. The incumbent will serve as the primary point of contact for identified smaller institutions. The incumbent specializes in processes related to ensuring access to purchased electronic resources, including those available through the Network Zone. The incumbent works closely with colleagues in PALS to provide support to clients through troubleshooting issues with access. The incumbent will work with PALS colleagues to identify cleanup issues in electronic data records, troubleshoot those issues, and resolve problems to provide ongoing access to resources.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Some coursework in a Master’s of Library Science program or at least 3 years of significant library experience.

  • Basic knowledge of library automation systems or electronic resources KB/Discovery products and familiarity with library data standards.

  • Strong written communication skills.

  • Analytical thought processes and problem-solving abilities.

  • Ability to work on a team.

  • Ability to work and learn independently.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment.

  • Experience with Alma electronic resource management.

  • Experience troubleshooting electronic access issues.

  • Experience with Access, Excel, or SQL.

Additional Requirements

Work safely at all times, which includes but is not limited to, participating in and completing all required safety trainings, as well as performing all job tasks in accordance with Minnesota State University, Mankato policies and procedures utilizing appropriate tools, equipment and personal protective equipment.
