At Prairie Farms Shullsburg Creamery , we’re passionate about cheese. We’re looking for an experienced cheese maker to join our team and help us create unique, high-quality cheeses. The ideal candidate will have experience in all aspects of cheese making. He or she will be able to work independently and be able to troubleshoot any issues that may arise. The cheese maker will be responsible for creating new recipes and developing existing ones. He or she will also be responsible for quality control, ensuring that all cheeses meet our high standards.

With your experience you would need to

• Maintain a clean and organized work area
• Adhere to all safety and sanitation guidelines
• Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes
• Cook milk and other liquids to specified temperatures
• Add culture and rennet to milk to begin the cheese-making process
• Stir curds and monitor pH levels
• Cut, stack, and press curds to expel whey and form blocks of cheese
• Monitor color, texture, and flavor development
• Perform quality control checks and package cheeses for sale
• Keep accurate records of production batches

The process of making cheese is an art, and cheese makers use creativity to create new recipes and develop new products. They also use creativity to find ways to improve their production methods and increase efficiency. Working in a cheese-making facility can be a team effort, as many processes require multiple people to complete. Having good teamworking skills is a must to help you and your colleagues to complete tasks and improve your overall productivity.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour
