We are looking for passionate Certified Nursing Assistants to work with Intellectually Disabled individuals. We are looking for very knowledgeable CNA’s that can multitask and provide the proper care. We have 13 week assignments, weekend schedules as well as full time permeant positions available.
Services provided are Home and Community Based Waiver Services to people. Individuals range in age from 23 to 80, and functioning levels range from profound to mild mental intellectually disabled. About 41% of the population is considered medically fragile (use wheelchairs, have swallowing and feeding problems, are on internal feeding, etc.)
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Provides medical services at the scope and level of a Certified Nursing Assistant to preserve the health of employees and client personnel
Available to work (5) 8-hour shifts per week. or (3) 8-hour weekend schedule
- Available shifts:
- 5:45a-2:15p, 1:45p-10:15p, or 10p-6a.
· Provide health and personal care to residents
· Intervene and redirect behaviors using approved techniques
· Maintain a safe and clean environment
· Provide active treatment by following the residents’ daily schedules
· Interact with residents showing sensitivity, dignity, and respect
· Accurately follow all prescribed therapeutic treatment plans
· Must be able to access the computer and perform necessary functions related to the individuals' electronic record
· Ability to report to the worksite regularly and on time
· Ability to follow orders and directives
· Ability to work with others (build, foster & maintain partnerships at a variety of levels)
· Systematically assesses the urgent or emergent health needs of patients, analyzes data, and formulates a plan of care, with other members of the medical team, which is realistic in relation to the employee’s capabilities and job requirements.
· Recognizes and treats illnesses and injuries according to established operating instructions within the scope of licensing and regulations of state employment or practice.
· Records and maintains patient information in accordance with standard protocols, and the Privacy Act.
· Identifies and records the signs and symptoms of physical and mental conditions.
· Protects patients' privacy through confidentiality, infection control procedures, assuring consistent medication administration, and assuring proper storage and maintenance procedures for all equipment and supplies.
· Checking patients’ blood pressure, heartbeat, and pulse regularly
· Providing compassionate care by listening to patients’ concerns and guiding them by answering any questions or concerns
· Monitoring patients’ conditions and providing updates to healthcare team
· Turning, repositioning and move patients between beds, wheelchairs, and seats
· Helping patients use the bathroom and dress
· Monitoring patients’ food and liquid intake
· Escort patients to get X-rays and other imaging tests
· Grooming and bathing patients with low mobility
· Preparing each patient room with necessary items like blankets, pillows, medical equipment, and bathroom needs
· Making sure they have regular meals and proper medication dosages
· Monitoring vitals and patient behavior and reporting them to the nursing and medical staff
· Assisting patients with mobility needs, transferring them from wheelchair to bed
· Turning or adjusting patients in bed to prevent bedsores or other discomfort
· Exercising patients by helping them walk
Qualifications:
· Graduated from an accredited CNA program.
· Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License in the State of Iowa
· At least 1 year of experience as a Certified Nursing Assistant.
· Hep B (can be provided during orientation, if needed)
· COVID (Fully Vaccinated, or Exemption)
· Negative TB skin test (can be provided during orientation, if needed)
· BLS certification (can be provided during orientation, if needed)
· High School Diploma or equivalent
· Active and unrestricted Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) License in the State of Iowa
· Cleared Background check
Physical Requirements:
Due to varied current global health climate, additional personal protective equipment (PPE) guidelines may apply. Employees may potentially be working in an environment supporting the medical response to an emergency health crisis created by a highly infectious disease, COVID-19.
· Work involves sitting and standing for prolonged periods of time.
· May require bending, stooping, and lifting as required for patient care and transport.
· Must be able to walk up and down stairs to code blue sites, to houses or other work sites.
· Must be able to lift 50 pounds, bend, stoop, and twist frequently when providing nursing care or
