This position will be open to Internal TECO team members for a minimum of 7 days from the date posted.
This position pays a minimum salary of $40,400.00. It may be increased based on skills, experience and education of the successful candidate.
SUMMARY:
Under general supervision, locates and marks underground plant facilities to prevent damage to utilities and to prevent injuries.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Locates and marks underground facilities as requested to prevent damage by other excavating contractors and individuals
- Maintains accurate records of work performed
- Develops knowledge of other utility underground and field construction practices
- Checks and repairs damaged coating on lines (as needed by location)
- Reports any unusual facilities problems to supervisor
- Maintains locating equipment to ensure accurate operating condition
- Works closely with other areas within the Company
QUALIFICATIONS
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or GED with up to three years of experience, or equivalent combination of education and/or experience related to the discipline.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain all applicable Operator Qualifications (OQs).
- Must at all times possess a valid driver's license and meet the acceptable driving record requirements of the Company.
COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
- Ability to effectively speak and present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, contractors, and other employees
COMPUTER SKILLS:
- Ability to use applicable job-related software
ANALYSIS AND PROBLEM-SOLVING ABILITY:
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Regularly required to walk, sit, and stand up to 2/3 of the time.
- Manual dexterity required and the ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, climb, talk, and listen.
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.
- Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- May be required to work overtime and/or on call and handle emergency response as needed.
- May be required to work at various job sites, out of town, and/or remote locations for extended periods.

The successful applicant will be required to take and pass a Baseline Medical Examination as part of the pre-employment screening once an offer has been accepted.
