Logistics Sourcing Specialist responsibilities and essential job functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Serve as the point of contact for the Strategic Sales teams with the focus of collaboration with Account Executives, Carriers, CPEs and Customers to perform and support
- Design business intelligence reporting and data visualizations utilizing Power BI
- Data mining including collecting, transforming, cleansing and analyzing data
- Develop, produce and report on lane analyses that focus on mode specialization per key lanes with the end result of establishing routing guides
- This role will guide and provide input to the Capacity Procurement team that supports the vision and goal of servicing our Strategic account needs
- Build out recurring carrier offers in McLeod as well as book it now options via external platforms to ensure routing guide compliance
- Identify and match qualified carriers at a negotiated price to key lanes; ensuring service levels and margin are acceptable.
- Create Service Level Metrics and the reporting needed to ensure exceptional customer service is met
- Handle customer sales calls in accordance to company standards
- Build and foster healthy relations with the sales force
- Provide excellent customer service to RL Global carrier base
- Support the business need in resolving logistics support questions and issue resolution when needed.
- Provide insight on how to better improve the processes and reduce transaction costs
- Demonstrate the qualities needed to be a leader via courtesy and professionalism while servicing the needs of our carrier base
- Assist in various department projects as required for beta tests.
- Book available freight with qualified carriers as needed and ensure load updates are timely
- Train new logistics support personnel
- Handle any/all ancillary requests made from Leadership
- Contribute to the growth of the business by referring quality candidates into the hiring process
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field or equivalent education plus work experience
- 2+ years’ customer service experience
- 3+ years’ experience in a full truckload, third party logistics environment
- Excellent organizational skills with a heavy emphasis on attention to detail
- Strong data analytical skills with the ability to produce complex excel reporting
- Strong communication and relationship building skills
- Ability to work independently in fast paced environment
- Strong customer service orientation
- Previous experience with transportation management systems and load boards; McLeod, DAT a plus
- Strong negotiation, communication and relationship building skills
- Strong team-building and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trust and cultivate relationships
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
