Job Overview

The Machinist/Tool and Die Maker is responsible for machining various parts to specifications using part drawing and direction from the senior tech personnel. Some other duties of this job include, but are not limited to, building, sharpening, and repairing metal stamping dies.

Responsibilities and Duties

• Operate machine tools such as, latches, milling machines, and grinders to produce metal parts

• Review electronic blueprints, handwritten blueprints, or specifications for a job

• Calculate where to cut or bore

• Shape steel, aluminum, titanium, plastic, and other materials for use

• Plan the sequence of necessary actions for completion of a job

• Take measurements and marking material for cutting and shaping

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; completion of vocational training or an apprenticeship will be an asset

• Proven experience as a machinist (4 years or a Journeyman’s card)

• Ability to read blueprints

• Ability to work in adverse climates with loud background noises such as metal and manufacturing sounds

• Good at math with analytical abilities

• Ability to use precision tools

• Knowledge of properties or metals and other materials

• Ability to stand for prolonged time periods

• Ability to lift 100 pounds

Cleveland Steel Container was founded in 1963 to provide customers with a dependable steel pail. Currently, we have four pail plants located strategically throughout the United States to support our customers. At our Streetsboro facility, we have a metal stamping plant to provide component parts for our pails. Our goal is to continuously provide our customers with quality pails through excellent service at an outstanding value. Finally, we make good pails and deliver them on time!
