Position Summary
Assumes responsibility for the coordination of the daily activities and operations of a non-governmental postal service for the University of Hartford. Performs all duties in compliance with U.S. Postal Service regulations regarding permits and associated standards as well as institutional policies and procedures. Assumes responsibility for Mail Services support staff in the absence of the Manager. Performs all duties in full support of the University’s mission, understanding that the positive and effective execution of these duties are instrumental to the education of the University’s students.

Description of Key Responsibility
Provides customer service at the Mail Services window to all students, faculty and staff. Provides guidance and assistance to faculty, staff and students regarding postage charges, mail processes and the internal distribution of materials. Processes and distributes U.S. Postal Service, UPS packages and other parcels for faculty, staff and students. Oversees the accurate and timely processing and tracking of charge backs to departments for metered mail. *

Description of Key Responsibility
Unloads, sorts, weighs and meters campus mail and packages. Performs bulk and second class mailings. Prepares outgoing campus mail and packages for the U.S. Postal Service. Signs receipt for University Express mail. Manages multiple competing priorities under established time constraints.

Provides daily updates to Mail Services staff regarding jobs in process. Actively participates in the analysis, recommendation and implementation of business process improvement efforts regarding the proper use of technology and in an effort to improve operational effectiveness as necessary and/or appropriate.

Provides support and/or performs duties of the Customer Service Representative and Mail Distributor as necessary and/or appropriate.
