Purpose:

Perform day-to-day maintenance support to plant and production activities.

Responsibilities:

The duties of this position are those described below. This job instruction does not state or imply that the duties listed are the only duties and responsibilities assigned to this position. Employees holding this position will be required to perform any other job-related duties as requested by management. These duties and requirements directly and substantially serve to achieve the purpose of the position.

A. Essential Duties and Requirements

1. Must read and understand electrical and mechanical blueprints, use simple shop math, and possess knowledge of company, local, state, and federal electrical codes

2. Installs, operates, maintains, checks, and trouble-shoots all types of A/C and D/C electrical equipment. Installs, trouble-shoots, and repairs solid state and other electronic equipment

3. Installs, operates, maintains, and checks all types of mechanical equipment.

4. Possess a working knowledge of the following equipment:

a. Mig/Tig welding equipment

b. Arc welding equipment

c. Gas cutting equipment and plasma cutting equipment.

d. Power tools such as drill presses, cut off saw, lathes, mills, and table tools.

e. Electrical test equipment such as voltmeter, ohmmeter, Magyar, ammeter

5. Changes shifts and days off as necessary when directed

6. Uses safe working practices and reports all hazard conditions at all times

7. Machines parts using lathe and mill when necessary due to breakdown, or as directed by supervision

8. Read and make proper installations of semi-complex electrical circuits from wiring diagrams as instructed

9. Perform PM and repair work in accordance with AIB and Food Safety principals

10. Diagnoses and employs proper procedure of troubleshooting to determine when parts need replacement and when repairs are necessary

11. Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles gearboxes, fans, conveyors, blowers, compressors, pump, valve, and allied mechanical equipment when directed or when directly related to electrical trouble shooting

12. Dismantles, repairs, and re-assembles electrical motors, relays, timers, and all allied electrical equipment

13. Possess working knowledge of hydraulic systems, air systems, and be able to read semi-complex diagrams and trouble shoot working systems

14. Installs and repairs electrical conduit, cables, piping, tubing (including all necessary connections), controls, and grounding as directed

15. Operates mobile lift truck and hoisting in the performance of maintenance work. Possess knowledge of simple rigging when necessary for equipment moving and relocation

16. Possess some knowledge of lubricants for all types of machines and performs necessary lubrication of production machines as directed

17. Possess working knowledge of Retail & Food Service Corn and Fried Chip lines within 1 (one) year from the date of employment

18. Helps maintain shop areas and parts room clean and orderly

19. Possess knowledge of “Good Manufacturing Practices” and comply with all policies relating to Food Safety in an AIB certified Food Processing Plant

B. Administrative Duties and Requirements

1. Inspects machines and completes “all” reports and paperwork as required for company record

2. Helps maintain spare parts inventory for plant as directed by checking out parts form parts room, using parts ordering procedure, and restocking inventory

3. Must adhere to and obey all plant safety rules and regulations and wear all personal protective equipment as directed

4. Follows (LOTO) all Safety procedures and Company Safety Policy

Education/Experience/Skills Required

1. Limited Maintenance Electrician License

2. Communication Skills

3. Good Math Skills

4. Training Skills

5. Technical experience in processing or packaging of corn products.

6. Completion of High School and/or Technical Mechanics’ School (desired)

Education & Experience

High School Diploma, GED or equivalent required. 3 years of experience in Maintenance in a manufacturing plant required. Bakery or food/beverage manufacturing preferred. With a minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity (or 4 years as a lead) in a manufacturing environment required. Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to read electrical diagrams, have good electrical skills on power and control.
  • Proficiency in electrical and PLC troubleshooting/programming.
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal electric codes.
  • Experience with regulatory inspectors: AIB, BRC, OSHA, Military, Health Department, EPA, City & County Inspectors).
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions.
  • Multicultural approach to operating in a diverse business environment. Comfortable communicating and operating within an internationally matrixed environment.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work night shift required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.

Hourly Pay: $37.16
