The Maintenance Technician is responsible for assuring the safety, welfare and health of all residents by maintaining locations and vehicles within specified regions of New Jersey. The Maintenance Technician will report directly to the Executive Director or designee.
Hours of work are as follows: Monday – Friday, 9 am – 5 pm with on call rotation as well as responding to emergencies on off hours as required/needed.
Essential Functions:
- Assist with maintenance tasks and duties, related to all corporate owned and/or operated locations and vehicles, but not limited to installation, service, and repair as well as carpentry, plumbing, heating, electrical and painting
- Complete assigned work orders at specified locations and meet daily goals
- Performs minor and major repair of all buildings and equipment. (Major repairs are performed under the supervision and direction of supervisor)
- Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
- Assists with the renovation/remodeling of buildings; repairs plaster and drywall; paints building structures.
- Maintains records of scheduled maintenance procedures.
- Performs outside custodial duties such as snow removal as required.
- Move furniture and equipment upon instruction
- May obtain estimates for supplies, repair parts; orders parts as needed.
- Use a variety of hand and power tools, and equipment in performing duties.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service.
- Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
- Perform regular preventive maintenance on machines, equipment and facilities.
- Work independently on assigned tasks and projects unless otherwise directed by the supervisor
- Maintain all required documentation including receipts for purchases
- Interact professionally with all individuals, co-workers, families, and /or community members.
- Serve as a role model by exemplifying professional behavior, language, skills, and attire
- Adhere/comply to corporate procedures, policies and regulatory requirements and those of all licensing agencies
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to individuals, employees or any other aspect of the business
- Actively participate in departmental and other meetings as assigned
- Actively participate and complete all training and attend in-services as required
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with corporate, state and federal safety procedures, rules, laws and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Utilize and properly maintain assigned corporate vehicle during work hours
- Do not use corporate vehicles for your personal needs
Requirements:
- High school diploma, GED or technical school certification
- Minimum 5 years of maintenance experience
- Ability to tolerate a variety of environmental conditions
- Willingness to travel between multiple locations
- Knowledge of general maintenance processes and methods
- Working knowledge of tools, common appliances and devices
- Manual dexterity and problem-solving skills
- Ability interact with staff at all levels in a fast paced environment, sometimes under pressure, remaining flexible,
proactive, resourceful and efficient, with a high level of professionalism
- Ability to organize and prioritize work activities and to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to make sound decisions without appreciable direction or advance preparation
- Strong attention to detail
- Demonstrated ability to use time in an efficient and effective manner
- Provide full cooperation during any corporate inspection or investigation or its contracting agency, New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Developmental Disabilities and any other licensing and regulatory agencies.
- Valid, active driver’s license without any major violations within the past 3 years
