Located in Nevada, Iowa, our Medical Center delivers high quality healthcare in a community-oriented manner in more than two dozen services and specialties.

As a Maintenance Technician you will:

· Perform repairs and preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, and medical equipment, along with building repairs and updates, within a hospital setting.

· Performs functions as they relate to the facility grounds, including but not limited to mowing, snow removal, trimming, and weeding.

· Display considerable initiative and judgment involved in determining extent of repairs as may be required on all equipment and buildings and makes recommendations regarding desired changes in operation and maintenance procedures.

· Demonstrates proactive problem solving with all Story Medical departments and personnel; anticipating needs and following through to completion.

· Sustain effective communication with Story Medical employees while maintaining confidentiality regarding all patient, resident, personnel information, and all other hospital information.

· Conducts routine tests among medical and building equipment and effectively handle multiple projects and special assignments

· Be able to work a variety of hours including holidays and weekends along with on-call shifts as assigned.

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:

· High school graduate or GED required.

· Familiar with building maintenance techniques as applied to systems and equipment.

· Current valid drivers’ license and completion of successful driving background check required.

· Must be able to read, write, and follow written and verbal instructions.

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:

· HVAC & plumbing experience preferred.

· Completion of trade school course or trade apprenticeship program is preferred

· Hospital experience preferred.

· Excellent interpersonal skills.

· Desire to support a cohesive team.

· Ability to maintain a high standard of courtesy and cooperation in dealing with co-workers, patients, and visitors.
