Job Purpose and ObjectivesAssist in maintaining county buildings by completing various facility maintenance and miscellaneous tasks in support of the Maintenance Department. Grounds keeping tasks may be a large portion of assigned duties during the growing season. Job Competencies
Safely operate lawn mowers, snow blowers and related equipment. Provide assistance to the Purchasing Department by delivering supplies to various departments, picking up supplies, etc. Patch damaged drywall including taping, mudding, sanding and painting. Replace light bulbs, ballasts, electrical switches and receptacles. Service and repair small equipment. Assist with remodel projects. Paint or stain rails, partitions, doors, walls, trim, furniture and fixtures. Assist other Technicians with various projects as assigned. Complete routine work orders as assigned. Must maintain an active cell phone for use on the job, as a condition of employment.
Additional Responsibilities:
Perform other duties as assigned including the responsibilities of a Custodial Worker. May perform preventive maintenance on HVAC and other equipment. Protects and maintains any confidential information you have access to, whether oral, written, or electronic. Operates all job-related equipment, machinery, tools and other aids as required or needed. Position Requirements and Qualifications
Position Requirements - High school diploma, Vo-Tech or G.E.D. Shall be a US citizen or Non-US citizen that must be able to perform the work in or for the United States. Shall be at least 18 years of age. Shall be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a named-based record check before employment is offered or before job duties are assigned that might expose them to KCJIS-sensitive information. Shall be screened for a record of criminal activity and criminal history using a fingerprint-based check within 30 days after initial employment or assignment and before unconditional employment is offered. Skills / Knowledge / Abilities - Basic knowledge of general custodial procedures. Basic working knowledge of carpentry, plumbing, and electrical systems desired. Painting experience and knowledge of various types of paint and finishes. Current knowledge of various specs, codes and materials required for related projects. Ability to understand and complete various types of custodial and maintenance jobs. Ability to read and understand both written and oral instructions. Ability to deal effectively in a positive manner with a variety of people / attitudes by telephone and in person and maintain a composed and courteous demeanor.
