Maintenance Technician (part-time)

GENERAL SUMMARY
The Maintenance Staff is responsible for maintaining all aspects of the physical plant and grounds, and for providing assistance to members and staff with regard to all program areas and equipment. In addition, every position in the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc is responsible for upholding the Judeo-Christian principles that are central to our mission by modeling behaviors that exemplify the four pillars of character - caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
- Remove and properly dispose of all materials and equipment as scheduled.
- Assist in the regular preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
- Maintain the appearance of the grounds including cutting grass and other landscaping work as needed.
- Assist in the repair equipment and facilities as needed.
- Properly store, use and dispose of all substances and materials as directed.
- Properly use equipment and materials according to YMCA and OSHA/ MSDS standards and policies.
- Assist in the overall retention and satisfaction of YMCA members through appropriate customer service.
- Assist in the Annual Campaign fundraising program for the YMCA.
- Maintain a positive and cheerful attitude with staff, peers and program participants.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
There are no supervisory responsibilities.
QUALIFICATIONS

- Sound working knowledge of basic mechanical equipment functions.
- Ability to make general repairs as required.
- Ability to foster positive staff, peers and program participants relations..
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add and subtract five digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
- CPR and First Aid required within 30 days of employment
- Must be able to pass a criminal background check and obtain authorization to work with children under the Georgia Department of Labor and YMCA guidelines

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
