Overview:

The Manager of Event Operations reports directly to the Director of Event Operations. The Manager of Event Operations is responsible for the planning and execution of UBS Arena events including but not limited to special events, internal events, concourse & plaza activation management, concert, basketball, & New York Islanders event day support. This position will lead the coordination of all activities and will support the logistical and functional needs of the Islanders, promoters, internal departments, and service providers. The ideal candidate will exhibit a strong aptitude for project management, leadership, and effective communication. The candidate will also be a hands-on professional who enjoys rolling up his or her sleeves, working as part of a team, and jumping between disciplines to achieve goals. The goal is to ensure we become and remain the industry standard for excellence and ensure all our guests and staff exceptional experiences.


This role will pay an hourly wage of $55,000 to $105,000.

About the Venue:
UBS Arena at Belmont Park is made for music and built for hockey. New York's newest premier entertainment and sports venueopened in November 2021 and has already welcomed numerous top artists, including Harry Styles, Billie Eilish, Dua Lipa, Kendrick Lamar, Post Malone and more. The venue delivers an unmatched live entertainment experience, including clear sightlines and premier acoustics. UBS Arena achieved carbon neutrality for operations in Fall 2022, which makes it the first arena to do so on the eastern United States seaboard.
Responsibilities:
  • Manages the planning, budgeting, and coordination of event operations before, during, and after assigned events.
  • Work with the box office, programming department, and show promoter to develop on sale CAD drawings.
  • Determines all logistical needs and communicates and coordinates necessary services for the Event Security, Guest Services, Ticket Taking & Ushering, Parking, Food & Beverage, Box Office, Concert Merchandise, and Housekeeping Departments.
  • Communicates and disseminates event related information to appropriate departments, vendors and others to ensure necessary levels of staffing coverage and overall event understanding.
  • Prepares event estimates and ensures event expenses are submitted for each event assigned.
  • Liaises with the New York Islanders, concert production, and special event promoters, for all game night and concert/special event related coordination.
  • Supports internal departments including ticket sales, marketing, sponsorship, and game entertainment in the execution of game and event night concourse and arena activations.
  • Creates and assists in the development of event policies and procedures
  • Monitors adherence from all departments on an on-going basis to establish high levels of service.
  • Ensures the highest levels of service by identifying and communicating solutions to service challenges and opportunities to Arena Management and leadership.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships with clients, partners, and all stakeholders.
  • Provides post event reports and recaps of event night incidents to identify trends and make recommendations for operational improvements and efficiencies.
  • Develops and maintains event files for all assigned events.
  • Maintains weekly event calendar and communication building wide.
  • Perform various administrative tasks as assigned.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or better from an accredited college or university in public assembly facility management, hospitality management, business administration, or a related field preferred but will consider relevant work experience
  • 3-5 years’ experience in large sports and/or music entertainment management and production.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a management position with supervisory and decision-making responsibility.
  • Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with an expert ability to present and communicate new ideas and concepts.
  • Extremely organized and detail oriented, resourceful, quick learner and able to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Exceptional experience in leading, motivating and developing employees.
  • A high degree of personal integrity and consistently put the interests of the organization first.
  • Must be a fierce communicator and cross-organizational collaborator.
  • Ability to work well in a team-oriented, fast-paced, event-driven environment
  • Working knowledge of equipment safety, facility maintenance, and housekeeping
  • Knowledge of budget preparation and control
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Ability to work event nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
