Community Health Network of Connecticut, Inc. (CHNCT) is currently seeking a Manager, IS Technical Writer.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Manager, IS Technical Writing is responsible for managing overall IS department documentation along with the complete and accurate preparation and delivery of technical documentation required for DSS contract deliverables, HITRUST accreditation, internal audit, and other documentation related activities.
  • Manages, supervises, and coordinates activities of Technical Writers assigned to the Technical Services and Application Development and Data Services departments.

Tasks Performed:

  • Conduct assessments of departmental documentation completeness and accuracy to meet contractual and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage DSS contractual documentation submissions to include an annual IS and security infrastructure design and overview, submission for infrastructure change and maintenance approvals along with DSS requested infrastructure and process changes.
  • Manage IS documentation reviews and submission schedules.
  • Develop document templates and presentation formats.
  • Manage overall IS documentation inventory and provide regular status updates of documentation projects and initiatives to management.

Essential Functions:

  • Management of Technical Writers activities and consult with IS subject matter experts to assure content of documents/processes are accurate, up to date, and clear.
  • Coordinate and collaborate with IS business units to translate and organize information into written documents to include policy and procedures, data flow diagrams, workflow diagrams, network architecture, process documents, configuration documents and standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure accuracy and maintenance of IS documentation by staff and departments.
  • Oversee documentation submission requirements for the DSS contract and other accreditation agencies such as HITRUST.

Desired Education: Four years post-secondary education

Desired Degree: Bachelor's degree

Desired Major: Relevant technical field, journalism, communications, English

Desired Job Experience: 5 to 7 years' related experience. Management and/or supervisory

experience of technical writer personnel is required. Technical understanding and/or experience in documentation with IT environments including networks, servers, operating systems, security, programming, and database technologies. Knowledge of standard industry technical documentation standards such as 21 CRF Part 11 and ISO 9001 is desirable. Knowledge of security and process frameworks such HITRUST, NIST and ITIL is desirable. Proven ability to quickly learn and understand complex topics. Experience writing documentation and procedural materials for multiple audiences.

Other Qualifications: Administrative, technical writing and editing skills. Knowledge of MS products include MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc. Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated experience developing end user manuals, system documentation, data dictionaries, data diagrams and operational procedures. Professional certification: Available through the Society for Technical Communication, the largest professional organization for technical writers. The STC certification program is three-tiered.
