DEPARTMENT SYNOPSIS:

CASA’s Development Department raises funds from foundations, government agencies, individuals, corporations, congregations, unions, and partner organizations to ensure CASA's financial sustainability.


POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a motivated development professional to join our team as a Manager for Federal & Capital Grants. The Manager for Federal & Capital Grants is responsible for overseeing CASA's grant writing and funder reporting work related to capital projects and federal grant opportunities. They are responsible for maintaining and growing CASA's network of funders, managing a portfolio of funder relationships, conducting grant writing and grant administration, developing budgets, assisting in event planning, and for coordinating CASA's grant management system. The Manager for Federal & Capital Grants will also assist the Sr. Director of Development with special projects, as assigned, including, but not limited to, capital projects, special events, and individual giving campaigns.


ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

Development Program Leadership

  • Work with Sr. Development Director to design & implement comprehensive fundraising plans to maintain and raise resources, mostly federal, for CASA’s core programs.
  • Work with Sr. Development Director to design & implement comprehensive fundraising plans to maintain and raise resources, from institutional funding sources, Inc. foundations, corporations and government, and individual donors for CASA’a capital projects.
  • Build and strengthen relationships with new and current funders – represent CASA at meetings, site visits, and events with funders/donors as assigned by Sr. Director.
  • Secure funding commitments – through in person requests, formal grant proposals, competing for government contracts, or other.
  • Stay informed of growing trends/current thinking in philanthropy and government programs that may affect CASA’s programs and growth.


Grants Management

  • Execute and oversee proposal and report writing work to funders, including: evaluation of potential new funding opportunities and provide recommendations of whether to pursue them.
  • Draft proposals, letters of intent, and reports to foundation, government, and corporate funders and track funding opportunities from select state and local jurisdictions to ensure timely submission of applications and required documents.
  • Work with program staff and finance to develop budgets for proposals, make adjustments as needed post award, and work with accounting staff to ensure proper grant reporting periods, and with program directors to collect and report data for grant reports.
  • Manage and conduct prospect research within assigned regions, and develop plans for soliciting / cultivating donors/prospects. Includes foundations, government grant programs, and individual donor research.


Other Duties

  • Assist with event planning, which may include fundraising with sponsors, sponsor relationships, logistics for the event.
  • Assist with Special Projects.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least 3 years of prior experience fundraising in the nonprofit sector.
  • Experience winning competitive government (federal level) grants required.
  • Experience with executing successful capital campaigns is a plus.
  • Valid US Driver’s License + reliable transportation.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Highly organized and efficient, "can-do" attitude, flexibility.
  • Commitment to teamwork, high degree of personal initiative.
  • Strong project management skills: successful experience prioritizing and managing multiple tasks efficiently, as well as completing follow-up.
  • Proven superb writing and editing skills required.
  • Detail-oriented with high expectations of the quality of work that comes out of the development department. Ability to work efficiently in occasionally stressful environments.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills, and strong "people skills" - to communicate professionally and convincingly with donors and partners.
  • Strong computer & technology skills required- ability to manage Microsoft Office and online database systems. Experience with Salesforce is a plus.
  • Fluency in Spanish is a plus.
  • Strong commitment to social justice
