Position: Manager, Program Visits

Location: New York, NY / Remote

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: NYC's minimum salary for this position is $65,300. This may be adjusted to reflect the cost of labor of a candidate’s work location, if outside of NYC.


Position Description


The Programs division connects UNICEF USA to UNICEF programs worldwide, supporting resource mobilization efforts including program information, proposal, and report development; management of program visits and engagement; and building staff knowledge about UNICEF. The Program Visits Section works cross-divisionally to plan, coordinate and implement in-person and virtual program visits for UNICEF USA.


Reporting to the Deputy Director, Emergency Coordination Team, Program Division, this position works with UNICEF country offices around the world to implement 20+ in-person program visits, as well as various virtual program visits every fiscal year. This work includes logistics, preparation of briefing materials, coordinating among participants, and developing metrics to measure impact.


Key Responsibilities/Outcomes (include but are not limited to):


Program Visit Program (85%)


  • Program visit planning and management: managing administrative and logistical aspects of the trip; drafting briefing materials for participants; updating participants with key information concerning trip; managing financial payments related to the trip
  • Follow-up program visit activities: planning and coordinating panel discussions for colleagues and donors on the trip; tracking financial expenses of program visits; coordinating with other departments to leverage media assets and experiences from program visits to spread awareness and mobilize funds
  • Other Program Visit Duties: managing program visit database; coordinating program visit training for UNICEF USA staff members; assisting in analyzing the return of investment of program visits
  • For virtual program visits, lead work with UNICEF country offices to design virtual experiences that allow partners to see the impact of UNICEF’s work and to engage with UNICEF staff and beneficiaries
  • Develop metrics to show the impact of program visits and virtual program visits as input to the UNICEF USA strategic plan
  • Lead input to the UNICEF PFP Program Team in its role in coordinating program visits across UNICEF National Committees and provide input on new protocols and guidance

Global Program Strategy (15%)


  • Assist with fact-checking for the organization and request management through the Global Programs Service Desk
  • Prepare high-quality proposals, reports, letters of intent, briefs, acknowledgments, presentations, and other communications for submission to donors and other potential funding sources in a timely manner for specific thematic and/or cross-cutting programmatic areas in UNICEF
  • Support learning opportunities to ensure staff are empowered to speak on UNICEF USA priority campaigns and thematic areas; assist in the creation of content, decks, talking points, and any additional supplementary materials for staff training
  • Assist with special projects for the division, as needed

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of four years of related experience
  • Knowledge of UNICEF, the United Nations, public health, international development, humanitarian affairs, and/or other issues related to UNICEF’s core mandate
  • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Excellent research, writing, and editing skills
  • Exceptional administrative skills and quantitative skills (e.g., research, reporting, and budgeting)
  • Ability to maintain a positive, can-do attitude and think critically
  • Must be well-organized and relate easily to individuals of diverse backgrounds and demographics
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks and deadlines and work creatively and flexibly to adapt to changing priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Zoom.

Must possess current and valid US Work Authorization and be eligible to work for any US employer without sponsorship.
