POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direct supervision of the Security Director, the Security/Training Supervisor will manage develop a training program for the security department, and maintain all relevant training records. The manager will facilitate training sessions and exercises needed to monitor and evaluate applicable programs for CMC security department personnel, as well as general hospital employees. The manager will be responsible for facilitating safety programs intended for clinical staff that are conducted by security department personnel trained in those programs.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Under the general direction of the Security Director and within established rules, regulations, policies and procedures of governing bodies, CMC and the department, the incumbent performs the following functions:

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Supervision of the security department supervisors, and staff, to include all training requirements.
2. Oversee the orientation and training of all new security staff as well as develop and oversee continuing
3. Training requirements for all personnel within the security department.
4. Assist with the implementation and ongoing review and upgrading of departmental policies and operating procedures.
5. In conjunction with the Director of Security, conduct supervisor performance evaluations
6. Manage department Kronos time cards.
7. Maintain internal security department shift statistics.
8. Maintain internal security department Joint Commission compliance statistics.
9. In conjunction with the Director of Security, assist in hospital investigations.
10. In conjunction with the Director of Security, help coordinate and perform department training for clinical units.
11. Assists in the completion of performance evaluations and hiring and retaining department staff.
12. Assume the role and responsibilities of the Director of Security during his/her absence
13. Perform all related duties as required

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities and to possess the necessary physical requirements, with or without the aid of mechanical devices to safely perform the essential functions of the job:

1. Physical requirements include ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) in any direction; pick, pinch, type or otherwise work primarily with fingers; raise objects from a lower to a higher position or move objects horizontally from position to position, sustain substantial movement of wrists, hands and/or fingers.

2. Ability to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word.

3. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and make fine discrimination in sound.

4. Ability to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Essential functions involve sitting most of the time but walking and standing are also required.

5. Visual acuity sufficient for work which deals largely with preparing and analyzing data and figures, accounting, computer terminal operation and extensive reading.

6. Ability to plan and perform diversified duties requiring extensive knowledge of policies and procedures in a particular field. Requires considerable judgment to work independently toward general results, devising methods, modifying or adapting standard procedures to meet different conditions, making decisions based on precedent and policy.

7. Ability to endure periods of heavy workload or excessive stress.

8. Ability to work with frequent interruptions; respond appropriately to unexpected situations.



9. Ability to maintain good communications and establish positive working relationships with all levels of management, inside and outside the fiscal services division as well as other employees and the public.

10. Must possess general knowledge in Finance with the ability to develop financial plans and tests to ensure financial strength.

11. Ability to plan and perform a wide variety of duties requiring a general knowledge of policies and procedures; judgment to work independently toward general results, devising methods, modifying or adapting standard procedures to meet different conditions, decision making ability based on precedent and policy.



12. Ability to receive training and guidelines from Director on non-routine duties which may not follow standard practices and procedures, determine action to be taken.

13. Ability to interact effectively with people of varied educational, socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds, skill levels and value systems.

14. Ability to work with frequent interruptions and respond appropriately to unexpected situations.

15. General working knowledge of Microsoft Word/Excel and Outlook.

Qualifications
  • WORK SCHEDULE:
    • Must be available to work all shifts, weekends, and holidays, filling in when absences occur.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    Education:
    • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience
    Experience:
    • Previous seven (7) years of Law Enforcement experience required or security experience.
    5 years of supervisory experience preferred.


    Licensure/Certification:
    • Current valid driver’s license required. Current valid driver’s license required. Must be able to provide a certified copy of motor vehicle history from the state DMV in which the applicant resides.
    • Applicant must not have any misdemeanor or felony level motor vehicle convictions or pending license suspension or revocation.
    • Applicant must successfully pass a criminal background check without any convictions for misdemeanor or felony level criminal offenses.
