The Manager Sustainability Programs reports to the Director, Sustainability and will oversee a variety of projects and day to day operations associated with reducing the organizations environmental impact. The Manager Sustainability Programs is expected to support a variety of projects with cross-functional teams with the goal of standardizing and optimizing sustainable business operations across a broad healthcare portfolio. They manage the annual sustainability data collection process including strategies, risks, data analysis, visualization and validation and support sustainability programs between Medxcel and sites of care. They support the development of the annual sustainability report and other communications to associates and other audiences with a strong focus on ESG data.


This position will be located at Central Office -IN.

Responsibilities:
  • Manage the annual sustainability data collection process and implement protocols to enhance data integrity to meet sustainability goals
  • Collect and aggregate information from the Sustainability Plans to support the development of an annual Sustainability Report
  • Develop and enhance systems and processes for delivering best practice sustainable performance and use of management systems for monitoring and/or reporting
  • Drive operational improvements through the identification and implementation of opportunities to improve systems, workflows, processes and tools that drive sustainability performance across extensive healthcare portfolio
  • Support implementation of strategic sustainability initiatives and assist in evaluating or proposing new sustainability initiatives, considering factors such as cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, acceptance and support
  • Manage cross functional working groups within the Environmental Impact Office to advance sustainability initiatives across Ascension
  • Collaborate with other Medxcel managers to share best practices, collect, organize, summarize, and report data for system-wide energy efficiency, water and waste management programs
  • Function as key contact between Medxcel and sites of care to resolve data reporting and quality issues
Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in environmental studies of similar area of focus preferred

License/Certification:

  • LEED AP or other environmental certifications preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience working with sustainability programs required
  • Previous experience in a healthcare environment preferred
  • Previous leadership experience preferred

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Manages time efficiently and develops realistic action plans
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and present to all levels of the organization
  • Ability to deal effectively with diverse roles, backgrounds, and expectations
  • Project management skills including coordination, communication and adherence to budget and completion goals, prioritization, and troubleshooting
  • Flexible and adaptable — able to work in ambiguous situations
  • Ability to work independent of supervision
  • Expert proficiency of Microsoft Office applications (MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • 10-25% travel required
