Who we are

Otter is on a mission to build a childcare platform parents can count on. We match caregivers and parents, handle booking logistics, and support transactions for recurring and last-minute childcare and we've recently relaunched in the Bay Area. Our team of ~10 is mostly remote, with some folks in SF. You can read more about us here and here.

Who you'll be working with

Initially, you'll partner with our co-founder, Helen, who raised a $23M Series A from Sequoia as a team of one. Every day, you'll work closely with Shannon, Jessica, and Amanda, who are on our ops team. We're also actively hiring for a Chicago GM and whoever we hire will be your manager. If you're hired first, you'll be part of their interview process. We follow an operations-first product development approach so your learnings in the field will shape our product roadmap and you'll partner with our EPD (engineering, product, and design) team to design tools and features that will make your job easier and our users' lives better.

What you'll actually do here

You'll be responsible for generating demand for Otter in a new market by reaching parents, driving them to book their first care session, and retaining them. Your work will directly impact our key metrics, including GMV, parent retention, and parent user growth. From day one, you'll get to design and run experiments to help us meet parents where they are and activate them to join Otter. Your work will involve in-person and digital outreach to parents.

What you won't do here

Strategy or process design - at least not at first. We're actively doubling down on a PMF bet, which means most of our work is tactical and will remain that way until we earn the right to abstract a few levels up. We're also small enough that communication is informal and fluid, and we want to keep it that way.

Who you are

You're probably a former consultant, operator, or banker. You've probably spent a year or two working in a role where you loved the variety of your work but wished you didn't have to make decks or hand things off for execution. You love the idea of a job that changes every day, sometimes in the middle of the day, and you pride yourself on achieving results, fast. You're also excited about working in person in Chicago and about Otter's mission to build childcare that works for families and caregivers!

The salary range for this market operations position at Otter is $85,000-125,000. Compensation is commensurate with experience, and we may consider a higher compensation band for a more senior candidate.
